Loading... Please wait...Hip-Hop can be traced back to Los Angeles as far back as the early 80s. The Sedgwick and Cedar Planet Rock Los Angeles design celebrates the West Coast with original flyer artwork paying homage to the legendary Radiotron, Hip Hop's most celebrated B-boy event that became the focal point of early Hip-Hop culture.
The Radiotron was founded in 1983 as a youth center by Dave Guzman and made popular by LA legends, Ice-T, DJ Evil E., Chris “The Glove Taylor” and movies like Breakin’. Grand Master Caz, the first MC in Hip Hop history, adds “The Radiotron was one of the first clubs in LA to recognize the growing Hip Hop scene…it definitely had a positive effect. More like respect from the west coast towards the growing culture we created back east in New York City. “I met Ice T at Radiotron and we clicked right away. He hadn't done any of the records the world would know him by yet but had the drive and game to do whatever he wanted to do. Ice wanted to join a rap crew. I asked him, could he write a whole rhyme by himself? He said yes, so I told him that he didn’t need a crew, and he can have this whole west coast sewed up, solo. The rest is History!”
